Escaping to the Coast, people are flocking to Maine

Prior to Covid Maine has always been a pinnacle of the hidden jem, the coastal community set back in time serving breakfast in diner booths and lobster rolls by the pier. Now with the migration of workers exchanging their office setting for a kitchen table we are seeing an increase in new buyers and renters. In 2022 alone Maine attracted over 40,000 new residents, with the top five states of origin being Massachusetts, New Hampshire, California, Florida, and New York. https://www.mainepublic.org/maine/2024-01-03/data-shows-a-high-volume-of-people-moving-to-maine-from-other-states

A result of the recent influx has been an increased need for housing. Maine has been working on solutions for both affordable and accessible housing within the state. Read more about how the state is committed to affordable and accessible housing. https://www.maine.gov/future/housing
